Small versus Big? With the right CRM, start-ups can score points against corporate giants

March 24, 2020

The beginning’s already half the battle!

Vision, idea, implementation, business creation, financing, go-live – the stations start-ups and growth companies experience during the first stage of their corporate lives. And then comes the big moment – the first customer! Heyday, party mood, especially if their performance attracts further customers. The desire for success becomes reality, the company idea thrills the market, and the customer count further rises.

But then the actual challenge arrives, which is to meet the requirements: the complexity of internal processes grow and an increasing amount of resources is needed. In short, the overview is lost and the handling of customers cannot be managed any longer by using lists. This calls for a CRM system. But which one? The search leads us into the wild jungle of systems containing a multitude of functionalities, requirements and limitations, which all induce far more confusion instead of evident benefits.

In this phase, it is important to reflect on the basics of project management and create a first requirements analysis. Thus, the concrete question arises: what do I need? Marketable systems offer essential requirements: standardized processes, intuitive handling, a transparent structure, device-independence plus mobile usability and – of course – a price that is especially attractive for young companies. Furthermore, CRM functionalities are needed that constitute an important factor especially for growth companies, eventually maximize productivity in the company and in doing so bring the necessary flexibility.

One of the systems that has especially been focusing on start-ups and growth companies is the Oracle NetSuite: a cloud-based ERP system with CRM functionalities – tailor-made for this corporate group. But why of all things an ERP system? What can the system do and where are the benefits for me? Learn more about it in my next blog!
