IHK honors outstanding achievement for best trainee

Ettlingen, November 4, 2019

Extraordinary achievements deserve extraordinary recognition: The Chamber of Industry and Commerce Karlsruhe (German: ‘Industrie und Handelskammer’, short: IHK) has honored the best trainees of the region along with their respective training companies. A total of 210 trainees from 39 different occupations completed their dual training with at least 92 credit points and the according final grade “very good”. This achievement makes them part of the best graduates of the winter and summer examinations 2018/2019, for which they have been honored in the context of the IHK annual top trainee award in the Gartenhalle Karlsruhe on October 24 2019 – among them: Henning, IT specialist for application development at PROMATIS software GmbH.

The digitization of the economy and society requires more technical specialists. Accordingly, we can observe a particularly large gap in occupations that require special knowledge in mathematics, informatics, natural sciences and technology (MINT). In the light of these increasing shortages of specialists, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find suitable employees on the job market. The dual vocational training system in particular can prevent recruitment problems and meet the demand for skilled workers without becoming dependent on the job market. Companies benefit from the fact that their trainees get to know the operation, the products and services as well as the relevant technologies from the bottom up, as well as being able to quickly take on independent tasks and becoming successfully integrated into the processes of the company.

“We offer solid training in a comfortable working environment. It is our aim not only to provide a secure training position with a high qualification potential, but to also offer interesting opportunities for future employment in order to help laying the foundation for a further professional career”, Rainer Mann, COO and responsible at management level for training in the PROMATIS Group, emphasizes.

“This is a great achievement”, IHK President Wolfgang Grenke praised the trainees on the evening of the award ceremony. “They have all the reason to be proud of themselves, and deserve exceptional recognition. Over the past years, you have made considerable efforts to arrive at this present point. And you will see: your efforts will be paying off, because you have paved the way for a successful professional future!”. Particularly dually trained specialists are still in demand and are in high demand – according to the IHK specialist monitor, significantly more than academically trained specialists in the long run.
